Here are a few, but there will be lots of suggestions at the cottage: ⚫ Beaches at Dawlish Warren, Dawlish, Teignmouth and Torbay (Torquay and Paignton) all nearby. ⚫ Exmouth via passenger ferry May-October. ⚫ Exeter, Newton Abbot, Torquay easily reached. ⚫ Ferry from Teignmouth to Shaldon (small zoo and smugglers’ tunnel to beach) ⚫ Spectacular Sea Wall walks (Dawlish to Dawlish Warren) and Holcombe to Teignmouth ⚫ Dartmoor nearby for walking and exploring. Scenery, archaeology, pretty towns and wide open spaces. ⚫ Powderham Castle within 3 miles. ⚫ Boat trips (mostly summer) from Starcross, Dawlish, Teignmouth & Torbay. ⚫ South West Coast Path; amazing views, some easy, some strenuous. ⚫ Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, of international importance for birds ⚫ River Exe estuary, also of international importance for birds ⚫ Level Cycle route from Dawlish Warren right round the Exe estuary to Exmouth. ⚫ Haldon Hill Forestry Commission walks and off road cycling.
